Meet the Veterinary Professionals of Rum River Veterinary Clinic

Karri, Business Manager

KarriKarri grew up in Ramsey and graduated from Anoka High School. She earned a bachelor of science in family social science from the University of Minnesota. She is the business manager of Rum River Veterinary Clinic. In her spare time, Karri likes to entertain and cook.

Karri has one daughter, one son, and a dog named Sophie.

Shannon, Certified Veterinary Technician

ShannonShannon is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Argosy University in 2002 and has worked at Rum River Veterinary Clinic since September 2002.

They have a Boston/Bichon mix named Gertie, and three cats named Julia, Millie, and Winnie. When not at work, she likes to spend time with family, read, and work out.

Nicole, Certified Veterinary Technician

NicoleNicole is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in December 2008 and has worked at Rum River Veterinary Clinic since the completion of her externship here in October 2008.

Nicole lives in Big Lake with her husband and their two daughters. Their pets are two sphynx cats named Roman and Neptune, a hound mix named Sybil, and a Belgian Malanois mix named Zada. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

London, Veterinary Technician

LondonLondon graduated from St.Francis High School in 2013. From there she went on to attend college in North Carolina where she also gained experience working in a local vet clinic as a technician. Since moving home to Minnesota, she has been building a life with her boyfriend, Dan, in Isanti. They have an adorable three year old son named Callen who is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his baby sister in October! Their family also consists of a lab/pit mix (Tyson), a corgi pup (Lucy), a boxer (Malibu), an Aussie (Paisley), and a flock of chickens to complete their chaos! In any spare time she enjoys the outdoors, watching her son adventure and conquer the world, traveling, staying in and watching a movie with a good dinner, or just being surrounded by family and friends.

Rachel, Certified Veterinary Technician; Team Leader

RachelRachel is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Argosy University School of Veterinary Technology in October 2007. She has been working at Rum River Veterinary Clinic since she began her externship here in May 2007.

Rachel lives in Champlin with her husband and their four children. Their pets include a Labrador named Rowdy; three cats named Violet, Loki, and Frank; and a horse named Ranger. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and their pets, as well as reading, hiking, camping and horseback riding.

Kayla, Certified Veterinary Technician

Kayla Hovdestad, Veterinary AssistantKayla is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in December 2016. She received her national certification in April 2017.

Kayla lives in Stanchfield with her boyfriend Brian and their son. Their pets include black lab Flynt, border collie Sofi, their cats Hendrix, Ruby and Cinder, and a flock of chickens. When Kayla is not working as a Veterinary Technician she's working as a Personal Care Assistant for her brother with autism. Kayla enjoys nature walks with her dog and boyfriend, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Amanda, Certified Veterinary Technician

Amanda is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Minnesota school of Business in 2006. She has been working at Rum River Veterinary Clinic since 2019. Amanda lives with her boyfriend and their fur children in Ramsey. Their pets include their springer spaniel Stoli and five cats, Bronco, Bindi, Dotti, Lenny and Diesel. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening and lounging in her swimming pool or hot tub.

Gina, Veterinary Technician

Gina Lemay, Certified Veterinary TechnicianGina graduated the Veterinary Technology program at the Blaine Minnesota school of Business in December, 2016. She lives in White Bear Lake with her boyfriend Andy, her dog Sid and her cat Shrimp. In her free time she enjoys going antiquing, spending time with friends and family and heading up North to the cabin to fish and kayak.

Sophia, Veterinary Technician

Sophia, Customer Service Specialist

Sophia is currently in school to become a veterinarian. She lives in Blaine with her 3 cats Bindi, Baby Kitten, and Jinx, her dog Bean, her bearded dragon Spyro, her axolotl Jelly, and some fish. She has worked in the vet field for 4 years. Her hobbies include kayaking, hiking, swimming, and spending time with her animals.

Ashley, Customer Care Specialist

Ashleyley, Customer Service SpecialistAshley grew up in St. Francis and graduated from Anoka High School where she met her husband, Adam. She earned an Associate in Fine Arts Degree from the Anoka-Ramsey Community College and continued on to receive her Bachelor in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in 2D Media from Saint Cloud State University in 2016.

At home, Ashley and Adam live with their 2 children and a German Shepherd named Shadow, a Tortie-cat named Centauri, an Ocicat named Spirit, and a British Shorthair named Felurian. When Ashley is not at the clinic she is usually found reading, playing video games, spending time with family, or illustrating children's books.

Kim, Customer Care Specialist

Kim, Customer Service Specialist Kim comes to us after 32 years of owning/operating a dog grooming business in Osseo, MN. She took a few years off and realized she missed the animals and their owners so she joined our RRVC Family in May 2019 as a Customer Care Specialist.

Kim lives in Coon Rapids with her husband and black lab Mia. She has 2 grown sons, a daughter-in-law (her bonus daughter) a grand puppy named Laney and grand kitty named Oliver. (just waiting for grand babies without fur!)

In her time off she manages her husband’s 5 piece band, loves music, reading, camping, family and friends.
