MENUFOODS PETFOOD RECALL
The Menu Foods pet rood recall has caused great concern for many pet owners. It is important to know that this recall affects less than 1 % of all the pet foods on the market. But if you have used one of the recalled foods there may be cause for concern.
Cats seem to be affected much more than dogs. Signs of illness are related to kidney damage. If you have concerns check the resources below or call our office for advice.
If your pet shows signs of illness an examination should be done as soon as possible.
Signs of illness may include loss of appetite, lethargy, weakness, depression, vomiting, diarrhea, sudden changes in water consumption, or changes in the frequency or amount of urination.
These signs may also occur with other illnesses. Any animal showing these signs should be examined by a veterinarian, even if the animal has not eaten any of the recalled pet food.
Depending on your pets’ history and examination blood samples and a urine sample may be collected to test for kidney disease or other problems. Other diagnostic procedures, such as radiographs (x-rays) or ultrasound examinations, may be recommended to eliminate other causes of kidney disease and vomiting.
